London to Amsterdam on a 6-man bike

Strictly speaking, this isn't the best training for our 7x7x7 adventure. But it's another adventure worthy of mention - 6 men on 6 seats cycling from London to Amsterdam.

The Event

A 'Palace to Palace' cycling odyssey - Buckingham Palace to the Royal Palace in Amsterdam – non-stop and through the night, 150 miles, around 18 hours of continuous biking - and will feel like even more on our trusty, unique 6-man tandem!

The Details

The challenge has been set. The equipment is newly engineered. The bike has a top speed of approximately 8mph (fully manned, it will weigh well over one metric tonne!). Including a few brief pauses, we are likely to average around 5 mph which, given we have 150 miles to cover, means this truly will be a tough challenge!

Our journey will begin at 9am Friday 26th September outside Buckingham Palace, continuing eastwards through London and then out to the port of Harwich via the glorious Essex countryside. After a few hours of rest on the overnight ferry to Holland, we’ll travel from the Hook of Holland to Amsterdam's Royal Palace, hopefully arriving by 4pm Saturday. By car google tells us it'll take 7hrs - is 18 hours by bike and by boat even possible. We think so and the look forward to a restorative stroopwafel / genever or two!
